Wilson was born on June 7, 1954 in Pawnee, OK the son of Baxter Davis Atkins and Virgie Rachel Wildbird. He attended Chilocco schools near Newkirk, Ok. HE worked in the construction industry as a laborer. He worked carefully to preserve the Otoe-Missouria language through songs.
