Bernadine Gray

Bernadine Lorraine Gray passed away on August 1st, 2025, at the age of 85, in Turlock, California. She started her life on July 24th, 1940, in Pawnee, Oklahoma with her parents Charles and Thelma Johnston.

A Funeral Service will be held in Bernadine’s honor at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma on Friday, August 8th, 2025, at 10 am. Her burial will follow at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery in Red Rock.

Babydean lived in the Pawnee area until she was 4 years old when the family moved to California. She made the Modesto area her home for the rest of her life. In the summers she would work at the Del Monte Foods cannery, and then later in life she enjoyed working at the Modesto Commerce Bank.

She enjoyed going on walks, playing tennis and exercising, along with shopping, listening to country music and dancing. She was known to cook her special dishes for get togethers and family gatherings. But the one thing that made her life complete was her grandchildren. They brought her the most joy!

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Robin and husband Weston Lange of Turlock, California, Marybeth Driscoll of Modesto, California, and her honorary daughter, Lisa Whittemore of Modesto, California. Her grandchildren; Joseph Driscoll, Alexa Rubalcaba, Stephanie Driscoll, and Garrett Lange, and great granddaughter, Kryslynn (Baby) Driscoll. She leaves behind a sister, Cherie Whittemore, and many nieces and nephews. Babydean was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Johnathan Sroufe, Donald Sroufe, Charles Johnston, Patricia Friend and Charlene Haze.
