Curtis James Jackson

Curtis James Jackson a beloved and dedicated man of faith, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026 in Ponca City, OK. He was 90 years young.

Curtis was born December 28, 1935, in Jefferson Springs, Arkansas. He later moved to Chicago, Illinois where he worked as a Chef before going into construction. During his years in construction, Curtis worked as a Crane Operator as well as a Foreman. After transferring to Oklahoma in 1970, he worked for OG&E and helped build Kaw Dam. Curtis retired from Conoco as a Custodial and Safety Supervisor then later worked for Defender Services and P & R Services where he supervised the custodial department.

Curtis, affectionately known as “Action Jackson” or “Jack” was known for his strong work ethic and leadership, his savory barbecue, entertaining the neighborhood with his electric guitar “Nellie”, and helping others in the community. He enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, picking pecans, and sitting on his porch drinking his coffee and Pepsi. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends

Curtis is survived by his devoted wife, Ora Lee Jackson; his children, Claudette Jackson-Short (Jonathan), Kenneth Jackson (Gail), Randy Jackson (Sheila), Sylvian Jackson, Ronnie Jackson (Lucy), Sherena Jackson-McNair (Jamie), Sonya Holloway (Kenneth), and Rodrick Jackson; Jackson Siblings: Carl, Earl, Ronnie, Lorene, Gail; Carpenter Siblings: Eli, Mildred, Josephine, Rosene, Elizabeth, Emma, Elisa, Mattie, Loraine, Riley, Elijah Jr.; and a host of grandchildren and other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mozell Carpenter and Jodie Jackson Reeves; daughters, Glenda Jackson and Sherian Jones; Siblings: James, Delma, Eddie, Wayne, Claudie Mae, Nellie, and Erma of the Jackson family; Willie Lee, Shirley, Abraham Sr., Nathaniel, Andrew, Bernice, Willie Mae, and Laura of the Carpenter family.

Curtis will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Oddfellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
