David “Pappy” Dwight Newlin passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, at age 71, at home surrounded by family. He was born on January 19, 1954, to JT “Sonny” Newlin and Barbara (Hatten) Newlin. He was loved by all who knew him and never met a stranger.
Pappy was known for being hard-headed and set in his ways, but he also knew how to have fun. He was hard working, fun loving, an avid hunter, fisherman, Abate member, and horseman. He enjoyed camping, outdoor adventures, going to the rodeo, and was also President of the Marland Round Up Club.
David worked at Rainbo Baking Company for 35 years, becoming known as “The Bread Man”. He enjoyed his retirement most by making memories with his “partner in crime” and loving life partner, Carol Gardner, taking her on many dates.
People would say he loved hard, played harder, and would always speak his mind. His family loved his zest for life and the belly busting jokester that he was. Pappy was the master of being intentionally and unintentionally hilarious. Every moment with him was a memory. His family loved everything about him; the good, bad, and even the ugly. To know Pappy was to love him.
David is survived by his life partner Carol Gardner, five sons and their wives: Jason Newlin, Kevin Newlin, Devin Newlin, Zane Walmack, Jesse Fuentes, and his adopted son Scott, 22 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
David is preceded in death by his mother Barbara, his father JT “Sonny” and two sisters; Della and Debra Kay, and his wife Donna Crawford Newlin.
Family will be having a Celebration of Life at a later date in Braman, Oklahoma at the Hamptons Breakfast in the Boonies location.
Anyone who wishes to donate to the Breakfast in the Boonies Gathering Place please send to “The Memory of Pappy David Newlin” GoFundMe.
