Donald Bayer

November 10, 1941 — October 17, 2022

Donald L. Bayer, 80, beloved Father, and Brother was called to his eternal resting place on October 17, 2022. He entered this world on November 10, 1941, in Garden City, Kansas born to Joseph Adam Bayer and Margaret Ellen Gatlin Bayer.

Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 28, 2022, in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dennis Wildman officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. The rosary will be recited on Friday, 1:00 P.M. October 28, 2022, in the Grace Memorial Chapel.

Donald grew up in Western Kansas and attended the Shallow Water High school graduating in 1960 and attended Wichita Technical College for a time. Donald served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965, upon returning he met the love of his life Pat Brockert, and they were married January 14, 1967, in Garden City, KS making their home in Garden City, KS. Donald was in sales for Guy’s Foods, Inc. all his life and he never met a stranger and always had a joke of the day and would help anyone in need. Donald also was known for being a little Onery, during his younger days he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a past member of the Garden City Knights of Columbus, Eagles Lodge and the V.F.W. post 1201 after he moved his family to Ponca City in February of 1979. Donald enjoyed sports and he coached his son in Baseball and Basketball.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son: Troy Bayer of Ponca City, OK, daughter; Denice Kolb and husband Travis of Edmond, OK, Brothers; Adam Bayer of Texas, Martin Bayer and wife Marilyn of Gentry, AR and Lester Bayer and wife Christy of St. Paul, KS, Sisters; Patty Quint and husband Larry of Mesa, AZ, Mary Ann Burrell and husband Tom of Siloam Springs, AR, Karen Lubbers and husband Darryl of Garden City, KS, Sharon Moran and husband Rob of Newport News, VA, Toni Martin and husband Preston of Garden City, KS also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Wife Pat, 2 brothers: Karl Bayer and Rex Bayer, two sisters Catherine Base and Jo Ellen Spears.
