Obituary

Edwin David Parker, of Shidler, Oklahoma, passed away on September 4, 2026, in Ponca City. He was born on June 11, 1948, in Hays City, Kansas.

Edwin grew up working on the harvest and later became a welder. He was also an outdoorsman who found joy in the world around him and in the work of making things with care. Alongside his welding, he enjoyed sculpting and drawing, and he was an artist whose drawings earned awards. Those who knew him will remember a man of talent and individuality, someone who brought both craftsmanship and imagination to his life.

Above all, Edwin loved his family. His affection for his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a defining part of his life, and that love remained at the center of who he was.

He is survived by his daughter, Destiny Rich and his sisters, Gay Swenson and Mira Jones. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Rhavin Kirby, Jezreel Kirby, and Shillelagh Kenter, as well as his great-grandson Zyon Kirby.

He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Parker, his mother, Mary Parker, sisters Debra Blackwell, Pam Grass, and brother Ron Parker.

Visitation will be 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 N 14th St, Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Burbank Cemetery, Ponca City, Apperson Road, Burbank, Oklahoma 74633.

Edwin David Parker will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his artistic gifts, his love of the outdoors, and, most of all, the love he held for his family. His memory will remain cherished by all who knew and loved him.
