Gloria Ann Carillo Barbero passed away on April 8, 2026, in Shidler, Oklahoma. Born on September 11, 1958, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, Gloria's life was a testament to family, heritage, and joyful celebration.
Gloria’s journey began in Ponca City, where she cultivated a deep connection to her community and heritage, proudly embracing her roots as a member of the Otoe Missouria Tribe. This cultural identity was a source of great pride throughout her life, alongside her cherished role as a mother and grandmother.
Gloria was a feisty woman with lots of love and joy to give. She adored spending time with family and friends, taking every opportunity to gather and create lasting memories. Family cookouts at Ponca Lake were among her favorite traditions, moments filled with laughter and celebration. Her love of music, especially the timeless rock concerts of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, was well known, and she took joy in collecting their band merchandise. Holidays held a special place in her heart as occasions to unite those dear to her, embodying her joyful approach to living and connecting.
Her proudest accomplishments were her children, grandchildren, and her treasured heritage within the Otoe Missouria Tribe. Gloria’s devotion to family was evident in the attention and affection she poured into her relationships, particularly with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Destiny Kerr, Trinity Kerr, Alex Kerr, Capo Barbero, Ehmmi Massey, Bob Massey, Pyper Suggs, and Eddie Suggs.
Gloria is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Barbero; her children Jill Nicole Suggs, Danielle Kaylynn Kerr, and Robert Edward Massey; her sister Debbie Payne; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever remember her kindness and zest for life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Shirley and Edward Carillo, and her brother Eddie Jr. Carillo, whose memories remain cherished in the hearts of her family.
Friends and family are invited to honor Gloria’s life at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Visitation will take place on April 13, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service on April 14, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held later afterwards at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery in Red Rock, Oklahoma.
