Gregory “Greg” Scott Lawson, 44, beloved husband, son, and father was called to his eternal resting place on August 13, 2020. He entered this world on July 14, 1976 in Columbus, Ohio born to Paul Lawson and Janie Caudill. He spent his childhood in Grove City, Ohio. Greg spent a lot of his time with his beloved Grandmother, Artis Lawson, who preceded him in death. During his childhood he would often visit his Aunt Robin and cousins in Maryland and loved telling stories about the amazing seafood. Most folks that knew him, knew he enjoyed his food and was quite the foodie. Trips would often be planned around what restaurants to try.
Greg graduated Class of 1994 from Grove City, OH and thanks to Facebook was able to reconnect the last couple years with numerous high school friends. After he graduated high school, he entered the Iron Working field. He loved to tell stories about the big presses he had moved in his day or when he worked on part of the Ohio State Stadium. If it had been up to him, he probably would have done a poor job on that one. He loved his Michigan Wolverines and could often be heard screaming at them for their poor performance. It’s probably a blessing this year’s football season was cancelled. It wouldn’t have been the same without him. He toured Michigan’s “The Big House Stadium” in 2014 and while that was probably the slowest 40 they had seen in some time, it was definitely the most memorable for folks to watch. He loved running on that field.
The year 2015 brought another one of his great loves, his son Graham Lawson, whom he shared with former spouse Sarah Edens. To keep Graham entertained they felt that he needed a side kick so in 2017 Drew joined the party, and oh did he bring the party.
Greg was an avid body builder and workout enthusiast who loved to share his knowledge and passion for the sport. He could be found in just about every gym in Ponca City or even OKC working out, or for fun, torturing others with his grueling leg day work outs. He loved coming home and bragging about who he had pushed that day to the brink of getting sick. He was very diligent about his workout routine and put in numerous hours to reach peak performance. On July 6th, 2019, his efforts paid off and he attended the National Bodybuilding Championship in New Jersey. From that he was able to attain a lifelong goal, his NPC Pro Card, which meant he was a professional bodybuilder.
He loved life and in 2019 he met Tiffany, the love of his life. He didn’t waste a single minute making her his wife. They were just beginning their life together. They loved touring Oklahoma to check out all the waterfalls and, of course, stopping by to see Greg’s friends the prairie dogs. He loved those furry little guys. Greg’s life was sadly cut short. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
