Janetta Ann
Hutson
Jun 11, 1944 — Oct 15, 2026
Ponca City, Oklahoma
Janetta Ann Hutson, 82, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026, at Bradbury Commons.
She was born on June 11, 1944, to Joe and Geraldine (Adams) Harrison in Sun City, Kansas. She graduated from Sun City High School in 1962. Janetta held several jobs throughout her life, including positions at Southwest Cupid and CTech. Later, she worked as an aide on the handicap bus for Ponca City School Transportation, where she especially enjoyed the relationships she built with the children and their families.
Janetta married the love of her life, Joe Hutson, on June 12, 1981. They eventually settled in Ponca City and enjoyed raising their blended family together. They shared 27 years of marriage until his passing in 2008. Her devotion to Joe, especially during his final years, was a true reflection of the deep love she carried for her family.
Janetta made the best pot of stew; the kind of meal that could bring everyone to the table and make a house feel like home. She didn’t need anything fancy to make something special. A warm meal, her family, and time spent together was more than enough.
Janetta enjoyed the simple things in life, from quilting, camping, and fishing to watching a hummingbird buzz around a feeder. She loved family trips to Branson to enjoy the live shows. Mornings often started with The Price Is Right, evenings ended with a Hallmark movie, and she was always up to date on her favorite soap operas. More than anything, Janetta loved being part of whatever her family had planned. It didn’t matter where you were going; she was happy to go to. One of her greatest joys was the time she spent with her great-granddaughter, Peyton. Rarely would you see one without the other; Peyton was her girl.
Janetta was preceded in death by her parents, Geraldine and Joe Harrison; her beloved husband, Joe Hutson; and one son, Toby Hutson.
She is survived by her sister, Donna Coonrod and husband Carl; her children, Mark Long and wife Sabina, Lisa Lee and husband Jeff, Sherry Sligar and husband Kevin, April Belair and husband Jeff, Richie Hutson and wife Shelli, and Kristie Coffman and husband Jonny; 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and dear friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bradbury Commons and AGC Hospice for the compassion, kindness, and love they showed Janetta throughout her final years.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in imagining her reunion with Joe and the many other loved ones waiting to welcome her home.
Janetta leaves behind a family forever shaped by her love, countless cherished memories, and a little less spunk in this world than there was before.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at Round Grove Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with Chaplain Gary Wilburn officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
