Jim was born in Blackwell, OK on November 12th, 1941, to Norvell LaBlue and Lillie LaBlue. He lived in Blackwell throughout his childhood and adolescence. He was a multiple sport athlete during his high school years. He excelled in football, basketball, and running track. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1959. His first job was hauling hay with his father. He then went to work for McDonald Douglas in California until 1969. He came back to Oklahoma where he went to work for Carbon Black. Jim moved to San Antonio, TX in 1986 where he went to work for a heat and air manufacturer. While in San Antonio he was stuck by lighting while fishing with his son Terry and son-in-law. In 1989 he moved back to Blackwell, OK where he went to work for Smith Tool. He later retired from Smith at the age of 65.
Jim loved his family more than anything. His children and grandchildren were very precious to him. Jim enjoyed going fishing. He had a great love for bass fishing with his children throughout his life. Perhaps his greatest joy was playing golf with his children and brother Dannie. He genuinely enjoyed playing golf with “the old guys” during the week. Jim always said, “he would play golf eight days a week.” He always had a smile on his face and a funny saying on his lips. He loved to make people smile with his quick wit. He loved talking to people and never met a stranger. Jim had a warm, loving, and funny personality that just made you love him.
