Joe Bob Blakey, 51 of Newkirk OK beloved Father, Step-Father, Son, Brother, Uncle, and Great Uncle passed away on February 28th, 2023. Joe was born into this world on April 4th, 1971, in Arkansas City, KS to John Robert Blakey and Mary Lou (Schlesener) Blakey. Joe Bob attended and graduated from Ralston High School in 1989. After graduation he attended Industrial Technology at Vo Tech. Early on in his life he was married to Candi and then Kenda.
He worked at Air Systems Components, Pemberton’s, owned and ran his own collision repair shop, and taught Collision Repair at Pioneer Technology Center. He took pleasure in teaching high school students and adults the field of Collision and Repair.
Joe’s greatest passion was his children Gavin and Aiden Blakey he had with Becky Ferguson. He would tell anyone that he didn’t just have two children but that he had five children. Bryan, Mitchell, and Gracie. There was never any doubt in how much he loved any of his children.
He felt his greatest accomplishment was guiding his sons into the young men they are today; Gavin Blakey, a graduate from Northern Oklahoma College pursuing Wind Energy, and Aiden Blakey pursuing Agriculture. He also taught his sons to fish, ride four wheelers, and handle firearms, and the ins and outs of cars including changing tires and changing the oil. He taught countless things a great father does.
Joe Bob, an avid OSU fan, had hobbies including fishing, riding 4 wheelers, and camping with his sons. He loved spending time with his children. He loved his dogs Ruger, Daisy and Meretta.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Gavin and Aiden Blakey, Gracie Ferguson, Bryan Penka and Haley of Blackwell OK, Mitchell and Chancie Penka of Healy KS, and their mother Becky Ferguson/Pontious. His mother Mary Lou Blakey of Newkirk, brother Bo Blakey and wife Holly of Edmond, OK; Shelly Hasselbring of Enid, OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great nieces and nephews as well as countless friends.
