Obituary

Johnny William Hedrick passed away on July 4, 2026, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 82. He was born on December 3, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Belva Lahoma (Hughes-August) Hedrick and Clarence Marion Hedrick. He lived a life marked by quiet dignity, unconditional love to his family, and unwavering faith.

John was the cherished husband of Kathy Hedrick, with whom he celebrated 54 years of love and partnership. Their loving relationship was a testament to true love, deep affection, and an unparalleled companionship. Together, they raised a family that became Johnny and Kathy's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment.

He is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his son Christian Hedrick and daughter-in-law Tammie Hedrick; his daughter Stacy LaBlue and son-in-law Jimmie LaBlue; grandchildren Alex LaBlue, Chloe LaBlue, Jessica LaBlue, Daulton Rains, and Meghan Meeks; and great-grandchildren D’Angelo Jackson, Oakley LaBlue, and Daisy LaBlue.

John was preceded in death by his father, Clarence M. Hedrick; his mother, Belva L. Hughes-August; his cousin, Charles Hedrick; and his beloved grandson, Dillon D. Vance.

A proud veteran, John served honorably in the Army, reflecting the same quiet strength and commitment that would define every aspect of his life. He later became a representative for Social Security Claims, a career that further demonstrated his desire to help others, always striving to assist in any way he could. His thoughtful, gentle manner, paired with a strong sense of justice and compassion, touched everyone he worked with and served.

His family loved singing old songs with him as he played the piano. They also enjoyed watching classic movies together—especially musicals and westerns. His laughter filled his home, creating a warmth that brought his family together. He had the best laugh! Such moments, his infectious laugh, his gentle encouragement, and the joy of his company, will forever be cherished.

Described as kind, loving, generous, godly, and tenderhearted, John was the embodiment of a gentle soul. He was profoundly educated, soft-spoken, and always eager to share his wisdom or lend a helping hand. His forgiving spirit and steadfast love for the Bible and God inspired those around him and anchored his family through the years. Above all, John’s quiet nature and unwavering devotion to his loved ones defined his character and left an everlasting mark on all who were blessed to know him.

A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate the life of Johnny William Hedrick will be held on July 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 N 14th St, Ponca City, OK 74601.
