Joseph White Star

September 27, 1963 — December 12, 2020

Joseph Stanford White Star, Sr. passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the age of 57 in Sioux City, IA.

Joseph was born in Pawnee and raised in Ponca City by his grandparents, Stanford and Francis White Star.  He was adopted by his grandparents at a young age and always knew the love they showed him.  Joseph played football and was proud to be a Wild Cat during his high school years at Ponca City High School.  He graduated PoHi in 1981. He continued his education at OSU Okmulgee Tech, earning his Associates Degree. He earned his Associates in Non-Destructive Technology at Cowley County, Ark City.

Joseph met the love of his life, Delores Calls Him, towards the end of 1989. Knowing they were meant to be they married shortly after on January 29, 1990.  During their 30 years together, they raised nine children. Joseph was a very loving hardworking man devoted to his family and being the best Dad, he could.  When Joseph wasn’t playing with his grandbabies, fishing, or watching OU Football, he could often be found in the kitchen.  He took pride in cooking and preparing food for all his family and at family events. He was also known to be outside whenever he could be, he loved working and tending to his yard and lawn, he was very proud of his home.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Delores, children, Samantha Godfrey, Samuel LeClair, Tenaya White Star, Sky White Star, George White Star, Josie White Star, Daa-Honga White Star, Joseph White Star, Jr, and Me-Kah-Eh-Ska White Star, eighteen grandbabies and his sister Julia (Moody) White Star.  He is proceeded in death by his parents Stanford and Francis White Star.

A Graveside service will be held in Joseph’s honor at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery on Friday at 11am with Brother Amos Littlecrow presiding. Pallbearers will be George White Star, Samuel LeClair, Joseph White Star Jr, Daa-Honga White Star, Me-Kah-Eh-Ska White Star, Donaven Magana, Aurelius White Star, and Trae Magana.  Honorary Bearers will be Jimmy Sherron, Daniel Sherron, Starling White Star, Darin Derksen, and Tracey Erwin.

Services are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.  Messages may be left for the family online at www.gracememorialchapel.net.
