Ky Dereck Cassady

Ky Dereck Cassady, 32, of Wichita, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 18th, 2026. Born on January 11th, 1994, in Ponca city, Oklahoma, Ky was the beloved son of Dereck Cassady and Shelly Cassady. Ky grew up in Blackwell, OK, where he quickly found his love for sports. He began playing T-ball, wrestling, and motorcross at the young age of 4. Throughout his childhood he played travel baseball, continued wrestling, and raced motorcross building many lifelong friendships along the way. To know Ky was to know someone who loved fiercely. Most often you could find Ky noodling along a riverbank with his buddies, in the woods hunting, or at the motorcross track making dirt fly. Thanks to the influence and guidance of his Uncle Jason, Ky became an avid deer hunter and carried a deep love for the outdoors throughout his life.

In 2016, Ky Cassady and Katie Martin welcomed a beautiful and sassy baby girl, Allyse Marie Cassady, into the world. Becoming a father was Ky’s greatest joy in life. He cherished every moment he spent with his children. In 2023, Ky Cassady and Karlie Balzer welcomed a handsome yet ornery son, Ridge Dereck Cassady. Ky loved his children with every ounce of love in his heart, and he loved being a dad. He loved spending time outdoors with his children and nieces, some of his happiest moments were watching their faces light up with excitement when they felt a fish on the line and reeled it in. Those memories filled with laughter and joy are moments his family will cherish forever. When Ky learned he was being blessed with children, he was over the moon with excitement making endless plans and dreams for adventures with them. Although Ky is no longer here physically, as a family we will make sure those dreams continue.

Ky is survived by his children, Allyse Marie Cassady and Ridge Dereck Cassady; his father Dereck Cassady; his mother Shelly Cassady; fiancé Karlie Balzer and her son Asher Koehn; siblings, Kelsey Cassady(Brice), Kaley Cassady(Sean), Stephen Leven(Kendra), Joseph Leven(Jenna), and Layne Leven(Rachel); nieces Emmalyn Miller & Taegan Brown; grandparents, Marjorie and Dennis Cassady, Freda and Michael Veach, and Jim Briggs; great-grandmother Joann Ward, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ky was preceded in death by his great grandparents, Carl and Luella Pierce, Elma Cassady, Charles Ward, and Fred and Lucille Leatherman; grandmother, Rosalie Briggs; and cousin, Lunden Shane Miller.

A memorial service will be held at Blackwell Event Center on Wednesday May 27th, 2026 @10:00am with burial to follow at Blackwell Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made to RCB Bank for the children’s college fund.
