Lawanda Page Buffalohead, 47, passed away on March 26, 2024, in Oklahoma City, OK. Born in Lander, Wyoming, on August 4, 1976, to Cameron and Carol (Chavez) Page. She was a beloved mother figure to many and had a heart of gold.
Lawanda's warm and outgoing personality meant she never met a stranger. She had a knack for making others feel welcome and cared for. Her nurturing spirit shone through as she welcomed countless individuals into her life, ensuring they never went without the essentials. Lawanda's kindness and generosity touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She enjoyed watching OU games and cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder with her family. Time spent with loved ones and friends brought her immense joy, creating cherished memories that will live on. She also loved cooking and made excellent fry bread.
Among Lawanda's proudest accomplishments were her children – a reflection of the love and dedication she poured into her family. She is survived by her son Isaiah and his wife Suzaatah Horinek, daughter Maranda Buffalohead and her husband Ivan Vargas, daughter Marissa Buffalohead, sister Melinda Page, brother Chief Willey, as well as grandchildren Isaac, Preston, and Lola Williams and Ivan Vargas Jr.
Lawanda Page Buffalohead is reunited in peace with her parents, brother Vincent Page, grandmothers Bonnie Kent McElroy and Mary Victoria Chavez. Following the traditional noon feast, a funeral service will be held at the Ponca Cultural Center in Ponca City, OK on March 29, 2024, 2 p.m., with Pastor Jim White officiating. Pallbearers will be: Isaiah Buffalohead, Marcus Buffalohead, Baptiste "Teese" Roy, Cesar Garcia, Ivan Vargas Sr., Justin Preston, Isaac Williams, and Preston Williams. Burial will follow at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery. Lawanda may have left this world, but her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
