Mary Bluejacket

Mary Ann “Mandy” Bluejacket of Ponca City passed away May 25, 2019 in Ponca City. She was 78 years of age. Mary Ann was born June 12, 1940 in Konawa, OK to William and Jewell Brown Smith on the family homestead.

Mary Ann’s wishes were to be cremated and the family has honored her wishes and Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City was in care of her cremation.

Mary Ann grew up in Shidler and graduated from Shidler High in 1958.  She was married to Gary Bluejacket on December 23, 1970 and their marriage ended in 1976. She worked for the Kaw Tribe as a computer Tech for several years and she retired in 2005. Mary Ann enjoyed fishing in her early years, spending time with family, reading, going to the casino with her sister, going to Pow Wow’s. She was also an avid Thunder fan.

Survivors include; daughter; Dana Butts of Texas, Granddaughter; Amberly Hays and husband Michael of Ponca City, OK, great granddaughter; Lilyann Hays. Sister; Gayle Conrad of Shidler, OK Grandson; Gus Gregurek of Fort Worth, TX, granddaughter; Alexis Gregurek of Marlow, OK and a great granddaughter; Alizah and several nieces and nephews and 2 nephews she helped raise; Darrell Paden and Don Paden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother in law; Richard Conrad.
