Valerie Sue White (Packhorse), of Ponca City, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Valerie was born in Oklahoma City to Ralph and Olivia Packhorse and was a proud member of the Ponca Tribe of Oklahoma. She graduated from Chilocco Indian Agricultural School in 1976. Throughout her life, Valerie lived in several Oklahoma communities, including Ponca City, Geary, Oklahoma City, and Moore.
Valerie loved spending time with her family and friends, sharing many laughs and joyful memories. She truly embraced life and enjoyed every moment. Valerie pursued several trades, attending technical schools for cooking and cosmetology. She also had a passion for gardening and took great pleasure in growing plants, flowers, and herbs. Known for her caring nature, Valerie often helped care for children within her family whenever childcare was needed. She deeply loved her pets and cherished spending time with her husband, Paul. Together, they were devoted fans of University of Oklahoma football and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Valerie is survived by her siblings, Jean Packhorse of Ponca City, Chris Packhorse of Moore, and Vinette Packhorse of Moore, Oklahoma; her nieces and nephew, Marissa Bible, Deanna Ferron, and Jason Packhorse; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Olivia Packhorse, and her husband, Paul White.
Services will be held at the Ponca Tribe Community Center on Friday, January 23, 2026. Traditional Feast and giveaway will be at noon, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place afterward at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery.
