Larry Brown

December 27, 1947 — March 11, 2023

Larry Dewayne Brown passed away on Saturday March 11th, 2023. He is preceded in death by his mother & father, Russell Edgar Brown & Elsie Marie Brown, two sisters, one brother & nephew, Billy Maxine Winkelman, Helen Louise Close & Russell Howard Brown. He leaves behind his soul mate and wife of 52 years, Christina Lee Brown, daughter; Amy Brown, son; David Brown, brothers; Jebo & Freddy Brown, Sister-in-law; Brenda Stolhand, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren,  and 14 nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1966. Joined the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict, from July of 1967 through July of 1973. Returned home to Ponca City attended firefighting school. He became a fireman in August of 1973 and spent 27 years serving the community and retired as Captain in August of 2000. During his time as a fireman he served as the Union President for several years advocating for his fellow firefighters. His hobbies were spending time with family, teaching others about life and doing home projects. As a thinking man, he assessed everything and always had a plan.

His wife and family would like to extend thanks to the Ponca City Fire Department for helping bring him home and all other family members, friends and neighbors for their generosity, love and support throughout this time. With their continued support we were able to bring him home to be with his family and friends in his final days.

We will be celebrating his life on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 on the river with music and food starting @11am. It will be come and go throughout the day.
