She graduated from Ponca City in 1968, then attended the University of Colorado. Sheryl was then hired, by Conoco Inc., as a secretary, where she worked for 17 years. She briefly moved to Oklahoma City, but eventually made her home back in Ponca City. Sheryl is an enrolled member of the Otoe-Missouria tribe. Her family traveled and attended many tribal gatherings and powwows throughout her early life. Sheryl eventually retired from the competition arena and enjoyed being wherever her son George and his wife Renee, danced at. She also loved her Oklahoma Sooners, and frequenting any casino, or concerts with relatives and friends. But let us not forget how much Sheryl LOVED Prince and his music!!
Sheryl loved participating and being involved with all her fellow Otoe elders, doing fundraising and the special trips they all took. She especially loved being around all the little children that would pass by her receptionist desk at the Otoe head start, where they all lovingly called her "Gma Sheryl".
