Wallace Weaver

August 15, 1925 — December 9, 2020

Wallace Ray Weaver, age 95, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at ALLIANCEHEALTH of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
Wallace was born to L.O. and Bertha Weaver August 15, 1925; he was the third of their six children. He received his education in Ponca City graduating from PoHi in May of 1943. In June of that year he enlisted in the Navy and served our country in the South Pacific during WWII as a Pharmacist’s Mate Second Class.
When Wallace was in the eighth grade he met the love of his life Maxine Walker. After the War, with a little help from life-long friends Paul and Lois Moore, they were married in Arkansas City, Kansas on March 3, 1946. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2012 after nearly 67 years of marriage.
Wallace was employed by the Conoco Oil Company of Ponca City for nearly 40 years; serving much of that time in their Research and Development division and retiring as head of Internal Maintenance. He was a huge fan of the OU Sooners. He was a deeply committed follower of Jesus Christ and a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City, serving there as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and Department Director in their Children’s Sunday School area for many years. He was made a Deacon Emeritus in May of 2008. He deeply loved Falls Creek Baptist Assembly and served his Church there for several years as a cabin counselor. He served on numerous committees and attended faithfully until his health no longer allowed him to do so. He was known to many as “Wally” and to many of the youth who passed through the Church as “Uncle Wally.” He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ernest, Wayne, and Bob Weaver; and by two sisters Katheryn Weaver Long, and a sister Ann in childhood. Also preceding him in death was his loving wife and companion for life Maxine. Shannon Weaver, his precious grandson, also preceded Wallace in death.
He is survived by his four children Daniel Weaver of Ponca City, Beth Weaver Harney also of Ponca City, John Weaver and his wife Nina of Hockessin, DE, and James Weaver and his wife Catherine of Cassville, MO. Wallace was blessed with six grandchildren who survive; Kelly Pugh and her husband Lee of Edmond, OK, Jennifer McRaven and her husband Eddie of Topeka KS, Laurie Conley and her husband Clovis of Oklahoma City, Andrew Harney and his wife Melissa of Ponca City, Laurel Becker and her husband Dave of Bolivar, MO and Taylor Weaver of Cassville, MO and seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will take place at a future date under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City for Wallace.
